​​​​​​The Association of Medicine and Spiritism of Rio de Janeiro is a private institution that operates in the field of spiritism/spiritualism and all paranormal manifestations. 

It was founded by Dr. Levindo Gonçalves de Melo on June 11, 1941 with the purpose of research in the scientific field and helping others, therefore, non-profit.

Its members collaborate altruistically with the sole purpose of helping people with their spiritual progress, and in the search for their own evolution.  It is governed by its bylaws, with the Deliberative Council and, ultimately, the General Assembly as its sovereign body.​
